As an experienced wood turner of many years standing, I worked solely with exotic and kiln dried woods. However, on relocating to France I discovered a new pleasure, namely that of working with green “fresh” wood. Oak; chestnut; acacia; holy; yew and beech, to name but a few of indigenous trees, are all readily available and so I can select, cut and turn a piece within a matter of hours.

The art of turning green wood is totally different to anything I have done in the past. It has a tactility and beauty all of its own and has influenced my thinking to such a degree that currently 50% of my work is produced from green wood.

If you are looking for a unique item with feel and beauty of natural wood, Then look no further as I am certain that you will enjoy my work. Each piece is individually turned to a very high quality and treated with Beeswax, thus allowing the wood to breathe and also producing a highly polished finish.

The photographs are a small sample of items in stock, but please note that some may no longer be available due to ongoing sales and it is advisable to check with me before placing an order. However if there is a particular piece that interests you, I will do my best to reproduce a very similar copy, but would emphasize again that all items are unique.

I am also available to accept orders for commissioned pieces turned to your own design in a wood of your choice.

One point to note.
Fresh or green wood does need some special care initially. It does not take kindly to areas of prolonged and extreme heat as this can cause warping and cracking. Kept in a cool environment your chosen item will be a thing of beauty for years to come!
